The Bichapoo, also known as Bichpoo or Poochon, is a cross between the Bichon Frise and a mini or toy
sized Poodle. This designer breed is an intelligent and friendly breed much like the two breeds from
which it originates. Typically very happy & healthy with an affectionate disposition and lively good-
natured character. It has become a popular family dog and does well in apartments.
The Bichapoo's coat is most often a mix of the curly Poodle coat and the coarser Bichon coat. The color
of the coat may vary considerably depending on the genes of the Poodle parent. Depending on the
owner's grooming preference the Bichapoo will need regular brushing and a grooming every several
months. It is non-shedding which makes it a good candidate for the allergy sufferer.
The weight and height of the Bichapoo varies depending on the size of the parent Poodle. It typically
weighs approximately 6-18 pounds and can grow anywhere from 8-12 inches at the shoulder.
The temperament of the Bichapoo is the most attractive characteristic of this hybrid. Generally very
sweet and affectionate with lots of character and energy to play, it makes a great companion for young
children.
