Comment: We were so upset about our kitty Huckleberry who was trying his best to pee! We are so fortunate to have you close to us in Dana Point, CA. What a blessing you are to us! You are so gracious and caring for Huck and to us. We picked him up at 9:30 pm, got him home, and fed and he immediately jumped in his box and peed!!! They gave us meds to continue for a week, and they are sending his urinalysis as soon as they receive it! Our experience was with Dr Hsing, Cathy and Dani! Such kind people!!!Judy McCall

Comment: Just went to VMSG San Juan Capistrano and saw Dr. Carolyn Briggs; she is a fantastic, smart, and compassionate Vet. She is humble and engaging and gave us a lot of information on managing our 3 year old Boerboel with chronic kidney disease. This disease is a real heartbreaker. We now have a regimen on what to follow, tests to employ, and the confidence to bring her in to Dr Briggs for more guidance if things go awry. Everyone at the center is friendly, loving and supportive and we could not be more happy with the Care There. Keep up the Good Work and Thanks AGAIN!!!!

Comment: Dog got a Rattlesnake bite. They were going to let my dog die or get even worse because I didnt have $4,334.00 It was late at night. They did nothing but observe her in the back while they made me apply for credit and was turned down. A few hours goes by she got a dry bite no venom. And they tell me nothing. Its Just swelling. Now the price is $2800. Then 2 simple easy blood tests were $800. No breakdown no transparency. I know were in a disgusting filthy disgusting capitalist pig society but to allow a dog to suffer in pain and die because of a few hundred bucks or even a few thousand is criminal. There should be a law stating no vet can refuse treating a rattlesnake bite. Id do anything including working there cleaning cages to help my doggo. These sick people would rather watch your dog suffer and die than take your word that youll pay this bill no matter what or offer any solutions other than their greed. Yes, I know anti snake treatment is expensive. And thats why there needs to be better payment plans available for poor disabled diabetics or whoever and their service dog.

Comment: Exceptional Service! We took our dog Penny at 2:30AM after she woke up screaming in pain. The doctor identified the problem right away and kept us there no longer than an hour. We previously took Penny for ingesting chocolate cake and the staff were equally helpful and courteous!Cant recommend them highly enough! 🐶🐾

Comment: If you love your animal, (and your wallet), do NOT take your pet to this place. They tried to charge me 4x the amount that Marguerite Animal Hospital is charging me. (I have nothing but good things to say about that place). Front desk lady was nice but the “Doctor” was rude and clearly only cares about her paycheck. Not sure if they’re struggling to make rent/payroll or what, but their prices are astronomical and clearly taking advantage of the fact that they’re in OC. Again, please go somewhere else.

Comment: 8 hours of waiting without any updates on our dog without us calling back hour after hour and still no diagnosis or attempt to explain what blood work/radiology shows. After begging for the update and returning to the clinic in person, Dr. Krouse finally tells us he has pancreatitis and they are not treating him there. She recommends we take him to another emergency vet and will no longer treat him after we have already paid $1300. This is negligent and cruel.

We came in with my puppy having a life or death obstruction in her small intestine at around 8pm, they helped us with so much love, honesty, and compassion. I would give this vet a million stars, and I am so grateful for the entire staff that worked the night of January 27th; Xray tech, nurse, doc, and reception were truly out of this world. Y’all saved my babies life. Because of the staff on hand my girl is alive, thank you❤️

It was a very scary situation for me but the doctor and all his staff were so kind and professional and gave my dog the care that he needed to be able to survive. Comment: IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMALS, STAY FAR AWAY.Two and a half years ago our then 13 year old dog collapsed one morning. As we were new to the area we didnt know where to go. VMSG was able to take us straight away (probably because most people already know to stay away) this was still during the pandemic so they wouldnt let us go back with our dog. We couldnt even go inside. They took our dog from us at the front door. We then didnt hear back from them for hours as we stressed all day. We called back a few times and eventually decided to go back and see what was going on. They called us as they saw us waiting in the parking lot and proceeded to tell us that our dog had masses in her abdomen and we should put her down. When they finally gave her back to us, the tech ran our card and when we asked about putting her down said something to the effect of oh yeah sorry about that. No care, no sympathy. The entire experience felt shady, off putting and transactional.LUCKILY we sensed all of this at the time and decided to take it day by day. Our dog was completely fine! We ended up finding an AMAZING vet at ALICIA PACIFIC VETERINARY CENTER who DENIED VMSGs original diagnosis and has been an absolute lifesaver (literally). And NEVER has recommended we put our dog down. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the heartache, stress, time and money and do not go to VMSG.

They are very deceptive and their communication is terrible... we brought our dog here to get his leg stitched up after he cut it on the edge of a garden box that weve since removed. Before bringing him in, we called to see if they had availability to take him in. The guy who answered the phone told me that they were not busy and that it would be a great time to bring him in. The process of dropping him off took 2 hours during a slow time. We were then told that he would be ready for pickup around 10:30-11 pm. A little after 10pm I called to get an update- the same guy answered and said that he would need to go check, but that he thought everything should be on schedule since they had not received any critical patients. He returned to the phone to say that the new pickup time would be 2 a.m. as they had not started treating our dog. Were they planning on giving us this update?? Good thing I called...The worst part of our experience: our estimate included an extra $300 of reserve funds incase anything unexpected came up during the procedure. The vet tech explained that we would more than likely be receiving a refund for the $300. When we got the call the next morning to come pick him up, I was told that everything went smoothly. When we picked him up, I asked the vet tech if we would be receiving a refund for the reserve funds and she assured us that we would get it. After a few days, I called bc we had not received the refund, and the lady who answered said they needed to manually process it, so she went ahead and did that (another lapse in communication). Finally, I received a refund of $46.10, much less than the $300 we were told we would get. Ive since called back twice to try to get clarification, or speak to the manager. The best explanation I got was that the manager goes in to add charges after the fact. This completely contradicts what I was told when we got the estimate, and when we picked up our dog. I was supposed to get a call from the manager but never heard from them. Our receipt when we picked him up had a balance of -329.71, making it clear that these extra charges are some type of scammy business practice. I have owned many animals and been to many vets over the years, dealing with many large bills along the way and this method of billing is unheard of... ultimately, I had to force a refund on them through my credit card company since no one there is willing to be accountable for their actions.

Comment: Had a dog semi-emergency. Best choice I made. Dog has laceration on ear. Britney at front desk answers my frantic call with Mr bleeding in the back of car. She was outside ready to help me immediately. It took a minute to get seen, but this is understandable (snake bite came in). Danni (vet tech) was so kind. Cant overstate that enough. They come with an estimate. Very large. Unable to pay. And the next thing to happen SHOCKED me. A reasonable fix to the problem and meds. Mr Rhodes thanks you and is resting now after last night.I also have a dachshund (12 yo. Incident happened about 2 years ago) neighbors dog got to her really good. She almost died. They saved her and she is still kicking today! Mrs Abbey also thanks you guys.

To say the staff made me feel at ease and was so reassuring is an understatement. The staff here truly cares about doing what is best for your pet. Comment: I brought my Maltichon in she was having respiratory issues @7pm they immediately took her to the examine room and put her in a oxygen carrier and gave her IV fluids she had to spend the night for observation they reassured me that I could call and check on her anytime if it made me comfortable doesn’t matter how often .. the night staff was amazing ! She is 16 and in need for some medication now for her heart to keep it free and clear if fluids! The next day I picked her up and she was great compassionate staff I highly recommend SJC location

Comment: We brought our dog into VMSG after he had been experiencing severe diarrhea for over 72 hrs. This was my first time at this urgent care facility. It was easy to find, in a great location, and the staff was so friendly as we explained what was wrong with our dog. Dr. Brown walked us through the different tests, pricing, and treatment options and never pressured us to move forward with any particular course of testing. We ultimately decided to run all of the tests available to try and figure out what was wrong with our dog. The course of treatment Dr. Brown recommended ended up working out great and our lil’ guy is back on the mend!

Comment: I took my little yorkie to this hospital on July 18,2023. She ingested garlic from eating chicken.I called told them she was in distress, the receptionist told me to bring her in so I did. When I arrived she then informed me they were busy and there was a change over in staff. She did assure me that peanut was next on their list but couldn’t tell me exact time but said 30 min-1 hour. 3 other pups came in after. We waited in a room for 2 hours and I noticed they went into the other 3 rooms, when I went out to ask again how much longer as no one has come in the sarcastic receptionist became loud and rude, says to me, I told you we don’t give times. I said she is not doing good and I just need to see when? She told me my dog was not priority. I left as I knew it was going to be more the 4 hours. They wasted precious time I could of spent elsewhere .This morning I found another animal hospital that took her immediately and I had to leave my pup because she was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and dehydration. This could have been prevented if they had helped her the day before. Do not take your dog there. Very unprofessional and understaffed.

Comment: On Sunday when my Vet was closed, I took my dog into VMSG-OC as Lucy threw up and I thought she ate my mouth guard. I talked to the doctor and he gave her X-rays, blood work, etc. Hours later, I took her home for the night and was going to take her back the next morning, but I found my night guard later and knew she did not eat it. I talked to the doctor and decided she was ok so we did not return. I was very please with the great care they gave Lucy. The doctors and staff are all professional and caring. Thank you. Comment: Absolutely the best. The staff here is just amazing overall. Literally saved our dogs life and I can’t thank them enough. Sadly her days are numbered but we get to love her for a bit longer without pain and suffering. This place took care of her from the second she walked in, until I took her home. We were helped right away and everything was explained in complete detail. The bill was itemized and they asked for pre approvals every step of the way. We highly recommend this entire staff for their professionalism and kindness. It is also amazing that they are open 24/7. Honestly I wish human hospitals were as good as this one. Comment: AMAZING vet hospital. My little Yorkie dog was not feeling well and my sister and I luckily found this place by her primary vet to go to as emergency right away. It was so pleasant to meet Dr. Erica ODonnell and all her staff for the first time. Dr. ODonnell was very patient with all my questions and she took time to explain everything in detail beyond my expectations and So was her staff. Dr. ODonnell was very knowledgeable and also made it easy for me to feel comfortable with proceeding with all her recommended treatment plan for my little baby. The lovely Dr. ODonnell and her lovely staff were so kind and genuinely caring from the moment we stepped into the clinic with hurry till the last second that we left. What I also noticed that deserves praise and acknowledgment is that they had such an amazing team work together and supported each other and showed how dedicated they were to maximize top quality care and maintained efficiency to make sure their little patient gets the best care possible in every aspect but also to keep her mommy feel calm and comfortable. We truly want to thank Dr. ODonnell and her staff again for everything . I was relieved to find out that they are always open any time and any day of the week. We highly recommend this place and if ever needed this is the place we will return to! Thank you and much love!!!!! :)

Comment: Terrible experience. I dropped my dog’s insulin before his 7pm shot and the bottom of the vial just separated and all the insulin was gone. I panicked. He has only been diabetic for 4 weeks but he’s already blind and weak. He is just learning how to get around and recognize familiar things. His food, blood testing and insulin shots I’ve had to learn how to do. It’s been very hard on me and him!!!We brought the diagnosis, prescription etc to VMSG tonight to get insulin since everything is closed. Simple right? They could give no timeline but told us to bring him inyo the waiting area even though that causes him and me major anxiety and he needed his insulin. So admittedly I was panicking because he needed insulin. We were there 90 minutes in a bare room.I was in the midst of calling another ER in El Toro when their vet tech came in with a pad etc. I thought yeah he’s getting the insulin. Nope. The vet tech proceeded to tell me because I had been verbally abusive.when I got there to the front staff that they wouldn’t help my dog because they didn’t like my attitude. He then had the nerve to tell me my panting, blind diabetic dog who needed insulin looked great and was not in distress.So for the first time in my 70 years on this earth I was thrown out of an establishment!! That’s a first. I wonder how they differentiate between a panicked dog owner and a verbally abusive person?Do not go to this ER. I personally feel what they did tonight was unethical. It would be for a doctor but maybe not a vet. It was a wonderful ER 10 years ago but it has either been bought out or changed management because this is not the same ER that did surgery on the same dog 11 years ago. This VMSG is horrible now.Good news we trekked up to the ER in El Toro. They were able to give us a timeframe and because the vet tech there was diabetic she understood the urgency of getting insulin into my poor dog. I’d never been there but I now having gone would highly recommend them!!

Comment: Exemplary service from start to finish!We called on Monday night (2/27/23) at 9:30pm in hopes to get a cut on our Maltipoos elbow stitched or stapled up. The phone call was answered right away, with a very friendly vet on the other end. We arrived 15 minutes later, and were quickly helped out. The staff on hand were all quick to help, honest, and most importantly treated our pup as we hope she would be treated. 10/10 would recommend to any pet parent. We will be back there again, but hopefully not too soon!

Comment: WOW! I last posted a review for this place 2 years ago when my sweet Newfie had issues and needed care. In 2020, this place was fantastic! There were great vets, good techs, and the service and staff was compassionate and on top of things.Flash forward to this past Saturday 11/5/22 - most of the doctors and staff that I had worked with previously have left. The service is BELOW sub-par, the staff is incompetent and after taking my sweet Newfie there on Saturday, concerned that he wasnt doing well, they charged me over a thousand dollars to run a few tests, $89.00 to take his blood pressure, and then basically said he was OK and discharged him when we were concerned he may need to be hospitalized. I asked the vet handling his case what her thoughts were and she said she felt that he should be fine until his follow up appointment with his vet specialist on Monday and that we could take him home.Well, Sunday evening, things took a turn for the worse and our sweet Newfie, Atticus, passed away traumatically on Monday. I will NEVER refer this place again.

Comment: We had an emergency, long story short, but our tv fell on one of our cats. We didn’t see what happened but our kitty was limping. We called our regular vet Olympiad Animal Hospital, but they were booked at gave us VMSG - OC’s phone number. I called, they said come right away, they checked us in and took our cat Tofu in for check up. We decided to pay for X-rays to confirm there was no fractures or broken bones. Luckily no broken bones. Doc have our cat a pain reliever shot and pain meds to take home. The only thing that was not great, they told me it would take about a hour for x rays. It took them 5 hours total, and I had to call twice for an update. We also paid around $1,000 in total, which is very expensive but I understand that vets are generally pricey. Regardless, thank you VMSG - OC for helping us!

After several bouts of throw-up last week, my cat started shaking and I just loaded her in the car and went without calling ahead. Miraculously there was no one there but me so Precious was examined immediately. Options were explained to me very well over the phone, and her symptoms were treated immediately. (Just FYI - Precious went in last year for different issue, and we had to wait an hour to be seen. Its like any emergency room - you just never know.) I was very impressed with the staff who answered the phone, and all the staff who helped with drop-off paperwork, and getting Precious in/out of the building.

Comment: My (almost) 16 year old Yorkie Tobey became accutely ill after a visit to his regular vet. I was waiting on blood test results, but could not wait any longer. It was Sunday morning and I took him to VMSG to be evaluated. Turns out he was dehydrated and going into renal failure. They admitted him immediately and began aggressive treatment to get his condition stabilized. The staff was kind, patient, and understanding which is good because I was a wreck. I had so many questions, but could not stop crying long enough to speak. Dr. Jenny and the staff treated my little fur baby with the utmost care, ensuring he was comfortable and receiving the best treatment. They took the time to explain to me in detail what was happening and provided clear options about how to move forward. I opted to keep him hospitalized overnight in hopes of a recovery. It was so incredibly difficult, but I felt some peace knowing he was in good hands. They let me go back and see him before I left, and they welcomed my phone calls to check in on his condition and comfort. Each day he was being hospitalized, the doctors kept me well informed, allowed me to visit with him, and welcomed additional calls through the day and night. As difficult as it was, I knew he was comfortable and getting the best care he could have. Tobey recovered and got to come home the following Tuesday. Dr Jenny took great care to explain to me what to expect for his quality of life moving forward, educated me on his treatment plan, and again, answered so many questions with patience and understanding. They welcomed follow up calls and questions, as the path forward is full of unknowns. I am grateful to the all the people at VMSG for taking such good care of my little Man, giving him the opportunity be comfortable at home, and giving us the ability to spend as much time together as possible.

Took him in, as an Emergency, called upon arrival, waited in Car for over 1 hour before they can out. First thing -told me price of service and asked for a credit card .Then after i called in a couple of times (over another hour) a tech came out and got him for the Ultrasound. I called to check in an hour later from the car outside and was told they were just taking him back-- this happened 3 times. Finally after 4 hours ER Vet, not the Internal Med Vet who did the Ultrasound, called me in to give me the report-- She then proceeded to read it to me-not explain it . No explanation of terminology (thankfully i am a nurse) and when asked what the next step was - check with your Vet. I was sent there by my Vet for emergency ultrasound and to talk to Internal Med Vet (who could not be bothered to spend 5 minutes with me and go over her findings. Was told consult with her would be when i made an appointment. I will NEVER go back and did not feel they had any interest in helping my dog or me. All they were interested in was the money. Due to COVID restrictions, they came out to my car, and thats perfectly okay. I was told since my dog didnt appear to have labored breathing at this time, she wouldnt be considered an emergency. I was advised to call around to general practice vets, even if they werent my normal vet to see if I could get one to see my baby. As it turns out, this veterinary urgent care only had one vereterinarian in and that doctor was tied up in surgery. How can this place call themselves an urgent care if theres only one veterinarian on site and that one is tied up and not able to see any other patients? A nice lady at one of the vetrinarians offices I called steered me in a good direction. When I got to the other place I was told about, there ended up being four other pet owners there who were turned away from VMSG-OC. Inefficient and unacceptable.

He had bladder stones removed at this same place about 7 years ago and the cost was $3,500. This time the estimate presented to me was $10,000-$12,000! I was mortified that their prices had gone up this much. The regular surgeon would not be doing the surgery since it was a Saturday and the Emergency Room vets would be doing it. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mantencon and Ivan. Dr. Mantecon was very kind and knew the plan of action that was needed for my cat without costing me an arm and a leg. Ivan, was especially kind, patient, understanding, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I had called him multiple times throughout the night and early morning hours asking for advice. It took a few days for my cat to fully recover from this attack, and he is now on an inhaler. Who would have thought that a young cat can have severe asthma?! I stopped her and said, “time was of the essence”.After 2 hrs., I called and asked how she was doing. Another hour later, I called again. Was told she didn’t wake up yet.I got in my car immediately. Was told she probably wouldn’t wake up and had a 20% chance of survival.They suggested euthanasia. They gave me no reason why.An hour later, I didn’t see any other choice.I hugged her and kissed her goodbye after telling her I was so sorry.Before leaving in tears, the vet said to pay my bill.$6500.00 later, I left without my precious girl Cher, and in debt for $6500.I later found out she was given the wrong anesthesia or was over anesthetized. 😥😥😥. Her initial estimate for only 36 hours was $18,000 and the office manager Amanda expected it upfront before treating. This lady was extremely rude and heartless to the fact that people dont have that kind of money sitting around. She finally let me pay partial upfront to care for my dog but called later wanting the rest or they wouldnt give her any more anti venom. Stressed I called my credit card trying to up the limit which I did and gave her so far a total of $12,000. My dog was cared for less then 48 hours and passed due to cardiac arrest around midnight. Beside the person who called to tell us we received no condolences from this heartless vet. Comment: My dog was recently attacked by another in our neighborhood as we were going for a walk. We rushed him over to VMSG right away, where he underwent surgery and 3 nights in the hospital. The VMSG team was SO responsive, understanding, and caring. I could feel so much empathy there from every single person - even if the law considers our pets to be property, they knew he was so much more than that to us. It was such a tough and traumatic experience, but we felt so much better knowing he was in great care. Even as the doctors and vet techs handed off between shifts, they really knew what was going on and continued to give us updates, explained our options, answered questions and more. We could call whenever and as often as wed liked to check in - they encouraged it each time we talked to them.The only reason this isnt 5 stars is because of the discharge. Its possible that when we went to go pick him up, it was a very busy time. Although all the staff was understanding, we didnt really feel the same empathy, care, and attention that we had received on the phone - it felt rushed, the staff seemed busy or like we were maybe an annoyance, and that they didnt have time for us. Our dog has such serious injuries and needs so much attention and care at home that it sort of felt a little like we were birds kicked out of the nest learning to fly. Hearing its in the discharge papers isnt the same as walking through the papers to discuss each step. And we were told by the doctor that we would be going through all our various questions during the discharge, but after reviewing paperwork and instructions when we got home, there were things that were missed. It was not a thorough process - and it would have been nice to be able to look over our dog in person and discuss certain aspects of the discharge instructions with the dog visually there together, and ask questions as they popped up as we read along. That would have been the main thing that would have made this experience better. Weve had a couple follow-up calls to discuss questions we have as a result of not having been walked through it thoroughly in the discharge. We are satisfied with the answers, but the vet techs who have been answering the questions are trying to answer from memory to the best of their ability over where they remember the tubes and incisions being.Again, an overall great experience. We would recommend VMSG to anyone and are so thankful to the team for taking such great care of our dog.

Comment: Last night my 4 year old Husky who is in very good shape and health went into respiratory distress after a routine walk due to an underlying condition I was not aware of. He was clearly extremely hot, not getting enough air, and it seemed like he was dying in my arms on the way there. I called them and explained the urgency of the situation when I arrived, and they swooped in deftly to save him. Though it was hard for me to hear, they were very honest with me and very responsive that it was not a good outlook, but did so with care while being empathetic knowing I was in the pits. They even let me go in to see him before I left him there for the night in case he did not pull through because he was in very critical condition.Fortunately, the team was able to save my dog. With how quick and accurate the response was from the office regarding my dogs condition, as well as a diagnosis of the underlying condition that caused this unforeseen mess, I have no doubt in my mind that their skilled hands saved my dogs life. In 24 hours he went from dying in my arms in the backseat of the car to asleep and breathing comfortably at my feet as I write this review. I feel so very lucky that I chose to take him here when he needed it most as I dont know what would have happened if I went elsewhere.One of the nicest parts about this was that they clearly only did procedures that he needed, I received a large portion of the money I initially put down back because he was showing strong signs of moving in the right direction. I am not saying to expect any money back, but I am saying that they definitely are not just trying to reach into the pocket book and showed a high level of mindfulness to only do what was necessary when treating my dog.Special thanks to Ryan (one of the technicians) for keeping a watchful eye on him and for letting me bug him a couple times through what was a very long night for me. He made this nightmare somewhat manageable. For that I am extremely grateful. Thank you to the doctor who worked overnight shift 4/12 | 4/13 and her team who treated him and got him back to health.I would be leaving this 5 star review even if my dog had not made it. The unfortunate truth is that there is only so much that can be done in this types of situations, so I feel very blessed that he is as of now taking it easy at home with me. I took my dog as an emergency, after was advised by the previous vet facility that my dog needed a blood transfusion. When i showed up with a referral and the history of the dog transmitted to them, they refuse to quote me the treatment (even a ball park cost), and make me sign few forms and took my dog in.After about 1 hour they inform me that the treatment course is a 2 day intensive care, with an approximate cost of $5000. After stating that I am not able to pay such amount, they offer a 1 day treatment plan (one transfusion included) for $2700-$3000 estimated cost.Again, I am not able to pay such amount, so I ask my dog back.Nex, they tell me that they are getting back to me in a few minutes.Next call that I receive is to ask me how I want to pay the $154 fee for the doctor visit before they handle my dog back. What??? I just gave my dog with a referral from another vet to call for treatment and they want to charge me that for what? For offering me a treatment that I cannot afford to pay?Grief stricken, I just pay the charges and get my dog back (this was not a payment for services, but a ransom payment to get her back).So, how is my dog returned to me after this $154 estimate for treatment? Covered in feces, that I only realize about it after getting my car, myself, my clothes, my home dirty with them.So, this place is a merchant that will not let you know even if you can or cannot afford a treatment that has been referred by another vet (and pay the consultation on such other place, having sent the case information to them), request a ransom payment to release my dog that I am not sure how long will eave and is suffering, and return it to me covered in feces.If I could do anything else to take this place down by writing my experience, I will continue doing it until my nails are gone.I had the courtesy of calling them and speak to the Vet administrator (Amanda Proud, Hospital Manager) to request the doctor fee reimbursed, since I did not agree to a consultation and I was only requesting a estimate to see if I could afford the treatment) but since they have no interest in anything else than lining their filthy pockets, I am going to go this avenue.My dog was saved by the treatment that I provided at home with the help of friends and vet friends that guide me on the steps to take to have her back.

They did all the testing, imaging and surgery with knowledge and compassion and we got to take her home that afternoon. A few hours later, after banging her tail against several walls and dragging it along the carpet, she got it bleeding again. They took her back in and cleaned and rebandaged the suture area with much greater padding and never charged us a cent for the extra visit. This is the second time, my dog needed emergency care hence a returning customer.Just recently, my dog had to be brought in for emergency surgery to remove a large mass on his spleen. From the very on site of our visit, they took very good care of my dog. They went over the cost, procedure, and discharge instructions. One of the technicians even took a picture of my dog so that I could see how he’s doing. My dog had the surgery on Monday and was back home 2 days later. After taking our beloved French bulldog in for having slight breathing issues on a Monday and by Friday he was dead. Through out the duration of his stay here, we never had a clear diagnosis as to what was going on. He was a patient of Dr. Kent & Dr Kruze. On Thursday (the day before he passed) my parents had shown up to the hospital begging to see our pet. He had never stayed over night in a hospital and was refusing to eat so we knew he was scared. We were told that we could not visit him on Thursday but given no explanation as to why. We had asked the front desk for the doctors to call and explain to us why we were being denied the ability to see OUR dog. The doctors still have not returned our calls and we are unaware of how or why he died. This vet stripped us of being able to say goodbye to a pet we have loved for 13 years, a part of our family. He was alone in a box when he died. This is the most inhumane, money sucking machine business. If you have any love or care for your animals I URGE you to not come here. So caring in the past with our dogs, one had to be euthenized here, and another bladder burst from a different vet, brought him here on emergency and they rushed out to our car and worked on him for over 30 minutes. All the while so caring. We now brought our baby kitten 6 months to them, prognosis not too good( we and them will still be fighting) . but their staff ANNE especially is AMAZING!! she will answer any question you have, no matter what it is, and will spend time with you, even over the phone, if not in person. She needs a raise!! she made us so comfortable and at ease in our decision for care for our baby. She even told us about her own experiences with her own fur babies in the past. We can tell she has her heart in what she does. These doctors and staff take their time, they know youre panicked and just want your babies well and they are so caring about that. After being referred to a local surgeon, whom couldnt get our pup in for weeks, we were re-referred to VMSG in Ventura on Monday. Our little Pup was in extreme pain and Dr. Simpson took the time to review the films our referring doctor had sent her over and got her in the same day for an appointment!!!! After examining her she determined the pup needed surgery ASAP. She once again worked her magic and added her for surgery the very next day. I called the morning of surgery to see how our pup had done over night and Dr. Simpson called me to give a status report and reassured me everything was going well. She called us after surgery and notified us we could pick up our Pup the very next day! Her staff was always friendly when I called over the phone. Comment: We have gone out of our way to see Dr Ashe on multiple occasions. He is highly intelligent and takes his time to explain our options in a very down to earth way. We have used him as a second opinion and he has correctly diagnosed the issues without charging us for cost prohibitive diagnosis procedures (saving us thousands of dollars we could not have afforded otherwise). He has quickly noticed other issues with skin conditions that no other doctors pointed out. At the end of the day other doctors offered $3k tests and didnt notice any other issues. Dr Ashe offered treatments and medications for a fraction of the cost that resolved all the issues we came in for and some that we hadnt even noticed before.He is a rare type of person that has the intelligence to treat animals and work with people to realistically resolve the issue. We will definitely continue driving past many vets to see him again.

Each time the staff and veterinarians have been kind, considerate, nuturing and have provided excellent care for our dog. The first visit required emergency surgery due to an intestinal problem. Sunny was not even 6 months old! We were not sure if she was going to make it but I believe the kind and very skilled young man who performed surgery was Dr. Smith. We will always be grateful to the Vets and Staff at VMSG-OC (San Juan Capistrano) because they absolutely saved her life. The next two times were not as serious, thank goodness, but she needed to be seen ASAP. We feel fortunate to have such a wonderful 24/7 Vets office available to us, when needed. They have always answered the phone promptly (even at 2 AM), and were available to talk to us for updates anytime.The office is clean and we have their phone number on a magnet on the refrigerator, just in case we need emergency care.

After examining her and evaluating her injuries, she was able to give us an update on her condition. I truly appreciated her honesty in a very traumatic situation.We left Sprout there overnight, and remarkably she survived. Following Dr. Schulzs recommendation, we moved her the next day to our regular vet, Dr. Park. When we arrived, Dr. Schulz had already spoken with Dr. Park and given her a complete evaluation of the situation. Comment: We found out about this facility when our local vet couldnt fit our cat in for an emergency visit. From the moment we called, and then walked in, we felt comfortable and cared for. After immediately taking our cat in the back to be evaluated, the person at the front desk offered us coffee and ensured we were ok while we waited. After the exam, we were brought in to an exam room to meet with the doctor. While at first I was surprised that our cat was not in the room, I think it actually made it easier to hear the outcome of the doctors evaluation, and to discuss options. While no one ever wants to put a price on our cherished pets life, they realize it is a factor, and didnt make us feel badly. After our conversation, the doctor allowed us to stay in the private room to review the costs.We decided on a multi-stage approach, and left our baby overnight for treatment. The doctor called us with the results of her xrays, and we again discussed options. We heard from the doctor the next morning immediately after rounds, and confirmed how we wanted to proceed. When we went to pick her up, there were several medications prescribed, which I was prepared to pay for. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually received a refund from the deposit we initially paid.The most important part is that they took EXCELLENT care of our baby, and she was doing so much better when we picked her up! I could definitely tell they genuinely cared for her. They even gave us a weeks worth of fresh food that they had been feeding her.I HIGHLY recommend this veterinary specialist for anyone with their pets in an emergency situation!!!

Comment: Had to come to clinic on Christmas day. One of my German Shepherds developed diarrhea and vomiting and would not eat. Took her in and was given an examination. They also did an xray to rule out any obstructions. She is very high energy and can sometimes be difficult to control. The staff handled her with great care and compassion. Of course I was upset so that eases my concerns. The staff here truly love the animals. Luckily there were no obstructions and was given medications to address the gastrointestinal problems. She recovered quickly and is doing fine. Thank you all at VMSG.

Comment: I ended up here early Wed morning when my dog Biggie took a turn for the worse. After running several tests, the doctor calmly explained that the cancer had invaded every part of his body. As I lost it, the entire staff was so supportive. We took him home to have some time with him and ended up returning to have him euthanized there. I asked if we could bring our other dog to say goodbye and there was no hesitation. After they took Biggie to the back to insert a catheter, they brought him back out, wrapped in a blanket and put him on my lap. He never left my lap as they administered the drugs and the doctor sat next to me the whole time. After he passed, she continued to sit with me until I was comfortable turning his body over to her. I will never forget the care and kindness both Biggie and I were shown. I am forever grateful.

Comment: I had an excellent experience at VMSG, thanks to Dr. Heidi Schulze, their critical care vet. My cat, Amigo, required an overnight stay. Dr. Schulze explained everything to me, took her time with me, and appeared genuinely concerned for my cat, She offered conservative care and called when she said she’d call. The staff were great too, very friendly, and no one treated us like merely a number. I will definitely return if the need arises. I only wish Dr. Schulze could be my cats’ primary vet.

Comment: My boxer/lab is full of life & love but not last night. He was completely unresponsive. They took great care from start to finish with me & my beloved puppers of 8 years. He was found to be very ill & they walked me through all my options. I was there for hours completely alone but I didn’t feel abandoned bc their staff was attentive to me & my old man. They gave me referrals for care once we left their facility. They were not cheap but they were professional & I knew my guy was getting good care. What I found charming is that all the fur mommies & daddies in the waiting room were all there for sick babies so we sort of held each other up in tears & laughs. My night was completely tear filled from beginning to end but not once did I feel rushed or disregarded. The staff sat with me in my pain until me & my guy left to make decisions on the next day. I will use them again if I need too but gosh I hope I won’t need to bc it’ll mean my fur kids are ok. All my thanks to this medical team

Comment: I had a great experience at VMSG last Sunday. Its a beautiful facility full of awesome pictures of dogs & cats, with a very comfortable waiting area. I brought my Yellow Lab in that was having a severe allergic reaction, and everyone there was so sweet to us. I was very worried about Freddy and they went above and beyond to make me comfortable. The Dr. spent a lot of time answering all of my questions, and the office visit price was also very reasonable. Thank you VMSG!

Comment: Brittany was friendly and caring as were the front office and doctors. I brought in my cat since her regular vet couldn’t see her on a Saturday afternoon. While they couldn’t determine the exact issue they did nurse her back to good health. The cost was expensive but I felt it was probably the same price as my cats regular vet would have charged. I would definitely recommend in an emergency situation or when a specialist is required.

The place was like a Beverly Hills pet vet, very clean, very new, and very professional both admin and tech staff along with Dr. Price was reasonable and got superb service. I was very shocked and happy for the exceptional service and would highly recommend them. The Dr. met me in a room to discuss and was informative and caring.

To the manager that talked to me like I was beneath you and like I was stupid, and then ask me if I was stupid where is your sense of compassion? How can you sit there and tell me that next time Im low on funds I shouldnt take my dog to be seen? My dog was hurt and in a lot of pain! But trust me my dog wont be back there and I will always get him help when he needs it! The doctor said he has a fractured leg and will need surgery they wrapped the leg and because it kept slipping they took it off and said oh he doesnt need a compression wrap since it wont stay on! What!?! Have a blessed day you heartless shrew!

Comment: Our little long hair chihuahua was poisoned by something in the neighborhood park. Dr. said she showed all the signs of marijuana poisoning. She was having seizures, life threatening low blood pressure, heart irregularity and was unconscious. The doctors and staff cared for her like she was their own. After immediately running tears, they followed their drug poisoning protocol and kept her on IV support. We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care our little one received. And thankfully she recovered! We say enough about this wonderful place!!

Comment: Overpriced and not very helpful. I will never return, and I do not recommend.Took my cat here because of a suspected blockage in his digestive tract. Paid just about $1,500 to be told they found nothing. Came home and less than the hours later, my cat vomited up what he had (apparently) swallowed. While I understand that the employees must have done their best, and vet technology is not perfect, going to them was an insane waste of time, money, and stress on my cat.They consider good service to be providing a barage of investigative employees. I saw roughly 8 people in total. Each person gave an unecessarily long monologue that never directly addressed my reason for coming. Its obvious that they are overcharging and putting on a theatrical performance so people feel OK about what happens to their pets and to them while they are there.

Comment: 10 months ago, my fur baby started to have diarrhea. We took her to our regular vet, and after a month of trying several course of actions, referred us to Dr Dong. My poor baby, was 9 lbs and during that time went down to almost 6. It was so terrifying and scary to see my little helpless dog look so sad. Let me say Dr Dong and the staff at VSMG were wonderful. Dr Dong knows her stuff and explained everything to us and they provide estimate maximum cost before any procedure. Was it expensive, sure, was it worth it, ABSOLUTELY!!! Today my, girl is happy and healthy and a whopping 10lbs!!! No issues at all since Dr Dong determined her problem. (Food allergies, to protein) My little Hayley is on her Hills Rx diet and is doing great!!! Thank you VSMG, Dr Dong and your staff for taking excellent care of our girl. We’re once again a happy pack!

Comment: If you care about your pet and not getting screwed over financially DONT GO HERE!The vet we had to see literally couldnt handle the questions I was asking and stormed out of the room saying Do you want your car treated or not.I have never had a veterinarian tell me they had no idea whats going on and tell me well lets run every test in the world until we figure out whats going on because I have no idea whats going on. Not an educated guess...nothing. Not to mention how The prices were ridiculous. If I would have followed her routine I would have walked out of there spending $2500 and still have no idea whats going on.I also want to add that the nurses didnt listen to anything I was telling them about his symptoms as I was prescribed medication that had absolutely nothing to do with why we were there.Not to mention I had to sit there for 2.5 hours until I wasnt actually brought back into a room.Very poor knowledge and attentiveness to the issue of why we were there.Go anywhere but Here! It will save your animals life and your bank account.
