Grooming:

Training:

Somewhat difficult. Aggression has been bred out of bulldogs and it's unwise to use a heavy hand when training these dogs. Instead, establish strong leadership by restricting your bulldog's activities. You can restrict food, playing and social contact. It's important to show that you control where your bulldog sleeps, eats and plays so he knows you're in charge. Then, use positive reinforcement with treats when your bulldog behaves in the manner you want. It's important to give your bulldog lots of praise.

Bulldogs are known for their docile, friendly and willful personalities. That said, they're great with children and will allow them to crawl all over. Modern bulldogs you see today were created by crossing Olde English Bulldogges with Pugs which further shortened the dog's snout.
