Comment: Visited this nursery with my mom for mothers day weekend. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Had huge selection of flowers and she was able to find the ivy geranium she was looking for. Flowers were decently sized and cheaper than any other place weve visited, including home depot and lowes.

I unfortunately bought plants with mealy bugs and spider mites which spread the rest of my collection. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid so I’m happy it is still here and the Indoor area is really gorgeous.

Comment: Our landscape design turned out so great. Our designer, Karen, really spent the time and energy needed to make sure the project turned out great. She was very communicative and her attention to detail was uncanny. Our yard looks amazing. I was impressed with the entire San Juan Capistrano staff, as they were super communicative and friendly during my visits and phone calls. Nobody acted like we were a burden and they were so willing to assist. Thank you!

Comment: I was on a trip from Portland Oregon and so thankful I stopped by Armstrong Garden Center! John the assistant manager provided me with outstanding customer service! He helped me over the phone making sure he had the plant I was looking for. Then assisted me when I got there with getting the oversized plant prepared for a plane ride back home to Portland. Thank you very much!! The plant made it and I had no problems with getting it on the plane! Definitely recommend this place and hope to visit your location soon!

Comment: My quest to create the perfect tropical garden in Southern California continues. Today, I visited the San Juan Capistrano branch of Armstrong Garden Centers, My fourth this week. This was the grandest of the four that I visited. Its larger and it has greater selection than the centers in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Irvine. It was nice to walk around and look at all the plants and the pots and other garden supplies. I havent been able to do that in so long. So after a leisurely time looking at everything, I picked out some impatiens, some lettuce and a basil plant. I also got some Miracle Grow and some neem oil spray. The thing thats really convenient about Armstrong Garden Centers is that they have all the little extras and some cute gifts, too. I didnt need any help today, but if I had, there were plenty of people to help.

Comment: This place is ENORMOUS and beautiful. As of June 2020, they are requiring masks to enter (despite the fact that the entire facility is outdoors). All the plants are healthy and the features are well kept. The place is clean and everyone is still super helpful and happy to see you and help out. Comment: Today while shopping at Armstrongs SJC we; customers including staff were in masks and gloves (covid). We witnessed this male customer entering the nursery without a mask. One of the Armstrong staff members politely offered him a new boxed mask that they had at the entrance. This man adamantly stated; Im not wearing mask!! Ill take a mask but Im NOT wearing a mask!!We couldnt help by being so appalled at this rude and arrogant man! We felt bad for the employee being chastized by this jerk of a customer.The clerk let him in.It made me wonder why not post a sign out front of their entrance to customers stating;Due towards Covid 19, all customers are required to wear masks when entering for their safety and respectful consideration for our staff and other customers. For those not in agreement we reserve the right to refuse business to those individuals in allowing entry.

But after giving it multiple attempts - 3 times in the last few months - I’m resigned to just not liking shopping here.I gave it two stars because of some of the neat items. But overall, my poor experience is due to two things. The first is that I find their prices to be a little too high. This is something I am happy to overlook because of its location, and if I were to get good service. But that’s my second poor point: I repeatedly get horrible service here.For example, I went in today and after traversing the entire grounds bewilderedly looking for an item, and never being asked to be helped by the numerous employees around, I finally flagged one down with much effort and asked if they carried what I was looking for. In return, all I got was a shake of the head, and a curt “No,” before the employee turned and walked off. I had a follow-up question that I couldn’t even vocalize because they were already gone. I understand that these unwelcoming interactions can happen sometimes in retail stores especially during busy times but it was extremely quiet today. Moreover, this is the exact type of interaction I have gotten on my two previous attempts.Every time I come here, it honestly feels like I am an inconvenience to the staff. This is disappointing since, like I said, I really want to like this store.
