Comment: Absolutely tragic that when I walk in at exactly 5 pm they wont serve me anymore because theyre closed.. meanwhile theyre still making drinks for previous orders. As a business owner myself, I will never be able to get used to this type of mentality. Youd have to pay me to ever come back.

Comment: Arrived by 9am and the line was stretching to the front entrance, but it took me just 5 minutes to place my order and pay. They only accept cards, not cash. This is one of my favorite spot to unwind and recharge by strolling around. Invited a friend to taste their coffee; latte and mocha with the thickest foam around! Paired them with the Queen cinnamon bread and a Herb Bagel Bomb, it was all good! Great drink, pastries and outdoor space.

Comment: CON- barista could not tell me if they offered a dark roast! I was shocked & opt for an espresso shot. Was told the almond croissants are very popular, but it wasn’t fluffy or crispy!PRO- Been wanting to come here for 3 yrs. It’s in a cute historic area near a beautiful park. Love this coffee shop vibe. Ample seating outside, little room inside.Display of pastries were full, seemed to have a variety of coffee. I would come here again, it seems like a great place to work on your computer with free WiFi.

Comment: Not enough to write home about, but good enough to write a review. The coffee was pretty darn good, great? Well, I wouldnt go that far. Had a small maple bourbon latte. $6.50.. Yikes! Not for a small cup of joe with a splash of flavoring that was not all that Maple Bourbon flavored. The cashless system kinda sucks as well. Not a fan of forcing folks to use a card and make them use a pay point system and have to decline or accept a tip choice. Why would one tip, before they have received service? How is this acceptable now... The person who took order didnt even get to know me, ask how I was doing... Im going to tip just to tip. Sorry. The location is an a historic area in a very old house with all the creaks and wooden floor sounds to go along with the old building smells. The place has great character and charm. Great outside eating and drinking area surrounded by garden like charm. Why 5 stars if everything wasnt awesome... Well... Lets be fair. Is it fair to dock for simple opinions on taste, size, value or service when nothing deliberate or negative occurred ? Thats not a true review. They pass the good place to get a cup of joe... Maybe I choice wrong type.... Maybe they will come to their senses and go back to accepting the cash that most of us choose to carry. Maybe not. But they still have a great little place to visit and it was delightful.

Comment: Nice location. First impression walking in, the smells that hit me weren’t pleasant; I almost left for this reason. “Poorly roasted coffee” overwhelmed me. The extraction was lacking body. There was acidity and bitterness but no sweetness or other flavor profiles. Not a well balanced coffee, i wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it without oat milk.I wouldn’t blame the barista either, I’d blame his trainer/education.It’s my opinion that you can’t use the Italian word “espresso” if your not going to respect the Italian culture/craftsmanship call it a house extraction instead. And drop the price. All in all, a rip off in the eyes of any coffee connoisseur. Also, upon waiting for my coffee, I witnessed another barista with dark hair/medium height snap at an elderly customer for asking to warm up his beverage on a cold day. I think he held more responsibility at the cafe, but I don’t think it gives anyone a right to have a bad attitude at work. Humor or diplomacy could have been used to deal with the situation instead of a direct attack. (My opinion) #humanbekind

Comment: I like this coffee shop and I’ve always been coming here but lately I have been getting drip coffee’s and every single one of them does not seal correctly and ends up spilling. At first I thought it was just a faulty cup, but then I realized after the fourth time that it’s all of their cups that they use for drip coffee that keep spilling.

Comment: As A coffeefluancer, my girlfriend and I had high hopes for Hidden House Coffee. After reviewing over 30 coffee places across Southern California Hidden House Coffee would be last on our list to visit. 1/5 Stars. Coffee was watered down and bitter. The Honey Lavender Cold Brew was bitter and earthy. For $12 for 2 drinks your better off going to Starbucks. If we are ever back in the area we might stop back by to try out other drinks at Hidden House Coffee for a better coffee experience. .

Comment: We enjoyed a nice drip coffee brewed with coffee beans from Honduras and an iced mocha at Hidden House Coffee. Its a great place to sit outside at a table either on the porch or courtyard reading a book. This quaint coffeehouse is a part of history occupying the Olivares Home that is part of the Los Rios District, the oldest continually occupied residential neighborhood in California. Its conveniently next to the Metrolink depot and a short few minutes walk to the Mission San Juan Capistrano.

Comment: I’ve been hearing about this place for years and I finally decided to try it. In the pictures, it looks like a cute little charming house, but when you get close, it’s more of a dilapidated disaster. This place is probably five hungry termites away from being a pile of wood on the ground, I thought I was gonna fall right through the floor. Waiting for my drink (it’s hot in there with no AC, by the way, for the poor baristas) I was alarmed by the centuries of dust and cobwebs caked on the windowsills and on the one fan in the corner that someone probably bought from Montgomery Ward back in 1997 that was solely responsible for circulating the air for the entire room. I just did not get a good impression from this crypt at all and will not be going back. The coffee was not worth it.

Comment: Tasty coffee house coffee, like I would get in college. Great outdoor location. Very pedestrian-friendly and inviting area.No parking at the location (which is charming really), so park at the train station or the street past where maps tells you to turn.Be prepared, they only have one size. I think it’s 12oz. I’m used to drinking more in a sitting, so it didn’t meet my expectations in that regard. It was a cool day and I really wanted more.

Comment: Waited about 15 minutes for drink. When the barista puts the drinks on the bar you have know idea who the drink belongs to as they do not call out names or let you know what the drinks are. Some customers were served immediately and some like me were waiting around way too long. The two people making the drinks were less than enthusiastic and moving at a snails pace. Lastly, for $5.50 you get such a small size cup about 4.5” tall. I usually like to support smaller coffee houses, but this was a disappointment.

Comment: Theyre the best coffee Ive had in the OC area, with their own roasts they do in house with beans they get from great farms. Theyve got a simple hot/cold menu with tea and kombucha options as well. While seating is limited (its a small, historic Los Rios house) theres seating outside in the yard, and its a short walk to the park where there are about a dozen family-sized tables. If youre a tourist, come here instead if the Starbucks downtown- youll be glad you did

Comment: We stopped by the cafe on late Friday afternoon and my sister picked up a chai latte which was good. The banana-nut bread was okay, on the dry side and the flavor was okay. On Saturday, I went back and gave their chocolate chip cookie a try. Now for a $1.50 this was worth every penny. It was soft and it was a good size for a cookie. The chocolate chips were on the gooey side. Oh yeah! Much better than the banana-nut bread experience from Friday. The staff is friendly and courteous. The cafe is clean and there is a very casual feel about it. Well go back again when we travel out here in the future.

Patio seating is limited but if you can score a seat it is well worth the view of passerby and nature. We ordered a Iced Mocha and an Iced Chai (mixed w/vanilla and spice). The chai blend created a perfect symphony of flavors in my mouth leaving me wanting more. The Iced Mocha had a robust expresso with the right touch of mocha that made the drink perfection in a cup without excessive sweetness.A must try for this area. Will return soon.

If Starbucks speed is your goal, thats fine, but this place is not for you. They have one, double group, manual espresso machine, so there is usually a short wait, but they make each drink with purpose.Roasted in house, served with quality in mind, from a humble staff. Comment: The location is very nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. The service, though, is a bit slow: there were very few people and we waited quite long for just two espressos. Moreover, I had the worst espresso Ive ever had. Im Italian and I have high standards, but all over the US I have more than good espressos. The ambience is overall nice, but on the trendy-hypster side, so that affects the prices.

Comment: Im Italian and my standards for espresso are extremely high. The first thing I noticed is that they put coffee in a water-glass and water in the usual coffee cup. But this is not very important. I ordered an espresso and I was really confident to try one of the best espressos in the US. Unfortunately it was not like that. Their espresso is probably even worse than the Starbucks one. Im quite disappointed. The place is nice and hipster-style and everything is quite expensive but quality...well I cannot judge everything but if you are looking for a good espresso dont come here.

Comment: Real good espresso and cappuccino. Typically heavy lines, but forgivable due to the quality of the brew. The best coffee establishment in San Juan Capistrano.

Comment: The coffee here is as novel as the coffee house would want you to think. The atmosphere is super nice- it is in a house and all made of wood. The prices are great and it is with the five minute walk from the street 😊

Comment: It was three years ago that a very special friend and I made a pact to meet here at Hidden House Coffee on this date, October 24 at 8am every year no matter what. First year a wonderful success. Second year I blew it and forgot. This year.. he forgot. But the weather is rainy with thunder with lightning. I dont mind being here and taking it in. Until next year...

Comment: If you are in the area and are looking for an amazing coffee shop, look no further. Walking up to the actual spot looks simplistic, but the brews and pastries are anything but. I did not get a chance to try all the brews but I did get a chance to taste their vanilla latte and it was deliciousA friend of mine actually works here and recommended I tried the bagel bombs. It was absolutely delicious. It was warm and in the center theres this little nugget of cheese that just adds excellent salty flavors to the warm bagel.Definitely check this place out! You wont be disappointed. Also the owner is a Prior service Marine so O thought that was cool:)

Comment: Small tucked away coffee shop. Serving a variety of coffee, tea and pastry products. The wait was a bit longer than most traditional coffee shops but well worth it as the coffee was fresh and well brewed. Wifi is difficult to connect to outside.

Comment: _The_ place to go to get coffee while visiting the San Juan Capistrano supercharger.... but expensive and with a limited choice of pastries. Id go there over Starbucks any day, but it does not come close to some of my favorite coffee places in the Bay Area or Seattle.

Comment: Very cute place right across from the train station. Indoor (small) and outdoor garden seating. Pricey but good baked good options including the amusing bagel bomb which has the flavored cream cheese actually baked into the bagel.

Comment: If youre a specialty coffee fanatic and live in south Orange county you know hidden house. If you dont know hidden house I question your coffee loyalty. Hidden house has been pumping out single origin, lightly in-house roasted coffees since the beginning and there not showing any signs of slowing down. The coffee selection rotates a tiny bit as they run out of green coffee but you are almost always going to find Ethiopian on the shelves. Family, and veteran owned this place feels like a slice of old school America. In addition to great coffee you must try every pastry the offer... Theyre all made in-house as well by an on staff pastry chef... Dont worry about that diet for one day and literary buy one of reach to sample with your friends. You wont be disappointed.

Comment: The iced mocha was awesome!Today on October 8 the barista could have been nicer to me. There was no hours of service sign posted anywhere I recalled and looked for it. But they refuse any service after I walked right in. I was very fond of that ice drink I had many months ago but to not acknowledge an excited patron made me absolutely edit my feedback. How can a store become so sloppy at this. Starbucks wow now I know why they get the lions share of all those people who like a sip of coffee.

Comment: Absolutely loved the coffees we sampled at HHC! We tried both Ethiopian and Guatemalan pour overs and they were OUTSTANDING! The roast was perfect. The folks there take care to prepare your coffee exactly as it should be, and make each customer feel welcome. We had heard great things about HHC and decided to stop in while vacationing in the area. So glad we did! If you want to experience the best flavor of coffees from around the globe, in a very cool setting, this is the place! Comment: What every cafe wishes to be. The cafe is actually an old house located right across from the San Juan Capistrano Train stop. I could spend hours sitting on the porch sipping what is arguably the best chai latte I have ever tasted. No snobs, just great coffee/tea, reasonable prices, friendly staff and priceless ambiance.
