Comment: I want to start this as I was referred here in 2022 for my senior pug. I thought I found a great vet and a home to my 2 pugs. That all changed after the staff was turned over.Since July 2023 my pug started declining with what I thought was heart issue. We think it was seizures but meds never worked.The last part of his life was supported by the staff and the lack of compassion, concern and empathy with our babies. I tried to get some basic questions answered but they wanted me to book a visit to answer them. Dr B went on vacation for Thanksgiving and my baby started declining more and more. They staff forwarded the call to the office manager which was condensing and not nice at all. No compassion on my struggle with my ailing pug.I tried calling them and I realized they would never pick up my calls, they were screening my calls and not answering. This was very concerning as NO doctor should ever do this. This was a difficult time for me and decisions needed to be made with my baby and knowing they were screening the calls was beyond me.The day my baby passed at home I tried calling again and screening. I left a message and they called back in 1 minute. This is not acceptable.During the transition of my baby there was still no empathy or comfort with the staff. Never even offered a box of Kleenex.This practice needs direction on how to treat humans and fur babies. We need supportive care and need them to provide the best care for our babies.Never will come back here again and would emphasize to everyone, look for a new home for the care of your fur babies, they deserve the best. Not cold hearted staff that only wants your money.

Comment: Staff was very friendly and helpful.I am giving a two, almost a 1 star, as we left our dog in there care so a certain type of urinalysis could occur. We were preached too about how not taking it a certain way would give false results. We left during a shift change and told it should be about 1 to 1.5 hours max. 4 hour later we were able to pickup our furry friend.New vet, or staff member, told us they just used the urine from the floor and did not do the procedure paid for.We were basically told sorry, you got what you paid for. That’s not what other staff told us as all and described in detail what they would do right before we paid.They get two stars as they did later credit us some of the charge. Very little of it, but they attempted to make it right.They also did seem very knowledgeable.

Comment: San Juan Animal Hospital has first rate veterinarians, nurses and staff. Our 14 year old cat seems calm and at ease when he is in the waiting area and examination room, and the hands-on staff are very careful and considerate toward him. We all arrive back home in good spirits : )

The employees are so rude and I am not in the vet industry but even I know more about proper care and handling of animals. I would never treat others the way I was treated here. I got my animal spayed at this location and wish I hadnt, the care and hand off was so unacceptable. Please be better!

Comment: Glad I’ve found a reputable vet office!! Always so apprehensive when choosing a vet for my dogs because they’re family and you want them to get the best care. I feel like so many vets are sadly just out for the money, but that’s definitely not the case here! Brought my rescue in (her vet the rescue used is short staffed and couldn’t get me in for the free visit since she was a rescue to just write a prescription for her heartworm medication) so I decided I would just pay for a vet visit and get the prescription that way. Booked an appointment here and she was seen and they ended up not even charging me for the visit! I couldn’t believe it. I’ve only been once but everyone was so friendly and seemed to actually care about their patients. So happy to have stumbled upon this vet! Definitely will be returning for all her future needs.

Comment: Tuesday night I was told my lil dude was actively dying w/ a tumor in his stomach & that he needed a vet to remove it immediately or he would be dead within the week. My birthday was also within this week & 2019 has not been kind to me. To find out my sweet man would be leaving me now, I went into shock. Dr B & this vet clinic came recommended & through a miracle he & the staff said they could accommodate Cappie’s surgery Weds. morning. I’ve accepted this has only prolonged his life a little while longer but I get to keep my guy at least thru these holidays. The staff was loving & professional & Cappie had each one wrapped around his tail. Doc was brilliant & the staples were very cleanly placed. We’ve had no issues since the surgery & I’m so very thankful for this vet being available in my desperate time of need. They’re good folks. And when Cappie is happy, he smiles. Since his surgery, he got his smile back & that thrills my soul.

I have had the misfortune of having high maintenance animals who require extensive and expensive medical care, but Dr B has always used a non stressful and non invasive approach to all my animal care needs. No up selling, no overmedicating, just a clear, sensible, honest approach to treating the problem. Along with his dynamite staff at both locations, I cannot say enough about him,Thank You Dr B!

The office crew is amazing,,,kind, parent, works hard to accommodate me. The doctor is on time and easy to work with. He is patient with my questions and awesome with my dog. I couldnt ask for better care for my pet. We drive from south San Clemente for their service and its worth it!

Comment: In our opinion, one way to judge the performance of a veterinary care facility is to watch for the reaction of the pets as you drive in to their office, and especially as they meet the staff and doctors. Our toy poodle, 2 years old, following a comprehensive exam, including x-rays, a shot to reduce pain, etc., just leaned up to the veterinary doctor and kissed him! Need to say more?

I am thoroughly pleased with the entire staff for the diagnosis and prescribed treatments given for Miss E. Chows are notorious for allergy and skin problems, Miss E is no exception. Following the prescribed regimen has returned her to a healthy, scratch-free and healthy condition.I would highly recommend the San Juan Animal Hospital for any/all your pet needs.

Comment: When we moved to San Juan last year, I was having angst about where to take my 2 cats for care. One of them gets quite carsick, so in the absence of any other advice about vets in the area I picked San Juan Animal Hospital since we live nearby. I have been very pleased with our interactions with Dr. Bondurant and his staff -- he is very down to earth and easy to talk to, and my kitties tolerate him poking them as well as they tolerate that behavior from anyone, so I guess they arent complaining either. My only complaint is that the entry area is quite small, so keeping the kitties away from any inquisitive dogs who come in can be a bit of a dance. Other than that, two thumbs and eight paws up!

It was hard to imagine a new veterinarian filling those big shoes. Enter Dr. Bondurant! What a happy surprise. He has exceeded my expectations in every way. My diabetic cat, Blackie, makes regular visits to see Dr. Bondurant and I have found the new doc to be as skilled, attentive, and compassionate as Dr. Mannix was.

We lost Jack Mannix last winter but they are still there and with a new vet who seems to be just as good. My basset hound, Winston still goes there, just like his predecessors for the past 30 years.

Comment: I met Dr. Bondurant at the Laguna Canyon location. I instantly liked him. He is so kind to our golden retiever, POLO. Hes the first vet that Polo isnt frightened of. We have gone to his Laguna location and the San Juan Capistrano office. The staff in both offices are so nice that I actually dont stress about going to the vet with Polo either.Hi highly recommend San Juan Animal Hospital and Dr Bondurant.

Comment: Many of us in San Juan Capo were concerned that a new vet wouldnt be able to fill the shoes of our beloved Dr. Mannix who passed away suddenly last year. Well, we shouldnt have worried! Dr. Bondurant is doing a superb job. He has the same caring, friendly demeanor and most importantly, expertise. We have confidence that our dog, Hobo, gets the best care. Dr. B has a top-notch staff who keep the place running smoothly. We also board Hobo there and know that he is safe and comfortable.
